Eczema & Skin Allergy Testing
View All TestsWhat is Eczema?
Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterised by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. It often appears in childhood and can persist into adulthood.
While eczema is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, allergens can be significant triggers for many patients. Common triggers include dust mites, pet dander, certain foods, and environmental pollens.
Our allergy blood tests can help identify specific IgE-mediated sensitivities that may be exacerbating your eczema. Results are provided directly to you to share with your dermatologist or GP for interpretation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can allergies cause eczema?
Allergies do not directly cause eczema, but allergen exposure can trigger or worsen eczema flares in sensitised individuals. Identifying and avoiding these triggers can help manage symptoms.
What is Total IgE and why is it relevant?
Total IgE measures the overall level of immunoglobulin E antibodies in your blood. Elevated Total IgE is common in atopic conditions like eczema, though it doesn't identify specific allergens.
Should I have an active eczema flare to get tested?
No, IgE antibodies remain in your blood regardless of current skin symptoms. Testing can be done at any time.
What should I do with my results?
As a diagnostic-only clinic, we provide results for you to share with your GP, dermatologist, or allergist for interpretation and to discuss potential allergen avoidance strategies.
